Wszystkie te dane są przechowywane wyłącznie lokalnie na urządzeniu w bazie Room (SQLite). Nie wysyłamy ich nigdzie poza zwrotnymi requestami do serwera JMAP wybranego przez użytkownika (zmiana flagi przeczytania, wysyłka odpowiedzi itp.). ### Czego NIE zbieramy - Brak Google Analytics. - Brak Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics, Performance). - Brak third-party crash reporters w v0.1 (opcjonalnie GlitchTip self-hosted od v0.5, opt-in). - Brak reklam. - Brak trackerów. - Brak danych biometrycznych (biometric unlock działa lokalnie via Android Biometric API). ## Z kim dzielimy dane Z **nikim**. Aplikacja komunikuje się WYŁĄCZNIE z serwerem JMAP wybranym przez użytkownika (domyślnie `api.fastmail.com`). W przyszłych wersjach (v1.0+) opcjonalne funkcje AI cloud mogą wysyłać treść wątków do wybranego providera (Claude API, Gemini API) w celu generowania podsumowań – tylko po explicit opt-in w ustawieniach, per-feature i per-account. Ghost credentials are stored using Android encrypted preferences backed by Android Keystore. Application backup is disabled so credentials, drafts, and queued content are not copied through Android Auto Backup. ## Data sent to other services Nib sends Ghost requests directly from the device to the Ghost site configured by the user. Those requests can contain publishing content, media, tags, pages, newsletter settings, and member-management data necessary to perform the requested action. The operator of that Ghost site controls its data handling. If the user starts a Nib Pro purchase, Google Play processes the transaction. Nib receives product and purchase status information but does not receive payment-card details. Google processes purchases under its own privacy terms. This version does not include advertising or an external analytics SDK. Monetization funnel counters remain on the device and contain no Ghost URL, API key, account/member identity, content, filename, purchase token, or order ID. ## Retention and deletion Disconnecting a Ghost account removes its stored credential. Local drafts and queued content for that account may remain in application storage but become inaccessible and cannot sync after disconnecting. Clearing application storage or uninstalling Nib removes locally stored application data. Content already published to Ghost must be deleted through Ghost or Nib while connected to that site. Google Play retains transaction records according to Google Play policies. Refund and transaction-history requests are handled through Google Play. ## Security Nib blocks cleartext network traffic in release builds, does not log Ghost authorization headers or response bodies in production, and stores no real secrets in its source repository. It’s a perfectly good phone. Three years old, not ancient by any measure. But you can really see how far Apple has let it drift behind on anything modern. Siri is still dumb. I can’t customize anything. For a three-year-old phone it somehow feels like something from 20 years ago, and that hits even harder coming from Android, where I can swap out the assistant, pick which one actually runs, and have Gemini do agentic stuff for me (soon!). The phone does things on my behalf. The iPhone? None of that. It all just passes it by. And it’s not like it’s a bad phone. I could drop a SIM in it tomorrow and daily-drive it without thinking twice. The number goes up. The number goes down. I want it to go down more often than up. That’s basically the whole story. To do that consistently, I need to know what I’m eating. And every calorie tracker I tried felt like it was designed for someone with more patience than me – apps with onboarding flows, dashboards, paywalls, ten taps to log a banana. I just wanted to type “two eggs and toast” and be done. Or take a pic. Or dictate! So I built it. ## What it is BiteNote is a calorie and macro tracker that lives inside Telegram. No app to install. No account to create. No dashboard to visit. The conversation **is** the interface. Behind the scene it either checks the database or tries to get estimates from gemini. It might be wrong! But also when I’m trying to eyeball calories I might be wrong too, so it’s guess is as good as mine (probably better though). ## The problem I was actually trying to solve The problem isn’t that calorie trackers don’t exist. There are dozens. The problem is the **friction between deciding to log a meal and the meal being logged**. If logging takes 30 seconds, I do it. If it takes 90 seconds and three taps, I skip it, then skip the next one, then stop opening the app for a week. Telegram solves this for me because: - It’s already on my home screen. - I’m already in it ten times a day. - Typing a sentence is faster than navigating any UI. - An LLM on the other end can parse “kanapka z serem i pomidorem (cheese and tomato sandwich but in Polish)” without me picking from a dropdown. ## Why Two reasons. **One – I wanted it for myself.** I’m 94kg, I want to be lighter, and I know the only reliable way to do that is to keep food intake honest with myself. Nothing on the market made that easy enough that I’d stick with it for more than two weeks. The conversation is the right unit. It started as a weekend project. Then someone paid for it. Then a few more people did. So now it’s a thing. With Apple you can pick a colour and everything else is decided by them. I can get an Android phone that’s basically all battery, I can get an Android phone that is basically a proper camera system with all of the gimmicks you could imagine. I’m free to pick whatever different configuration of things I want to. This makes it easier to get what you want – when you know what you want. But also can make you step into the wrong direction, because you could get something that makes wrong trade-offs for you. Last 10 years I was sure that I didn’t want to make any decisions. I got an iPhone, rode it until the next big upgrade came and got that one. But the grass always looks greener, right? So I picked up an Android phone that had – I thought – great set of trade-offs. Pixel 8a was cheap, great camera, amazing OS (Google’s take on Android UI is imo the best take). But the battery was BAD, charging was slow and the CPU wasn’t fast enough to keep up with my ADHD. That’s what pushed me to OnePlus. Different trade-offs. Camera ain’t great, but the battery is; OS is a bit worse, but it’s damn fast. It has 24 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD, and I went for the version with the matte display. And yes — this is an insanely expensive computer. It’s very expensive. But I also have to admit that it works so well, and I’m so happy with it, and it keeps surprising me in positive ways, that if it were even a bit worse, I’d honestly be angry — because this is a lot of money. But it really does its job. The way it behaves, the way it performs — it genuinely makes me say: okay, this thing is worth the money. Take the display, for example. I didn’t really know what to expect. Online reviews were mixed — either very positive or kind of “meh, not sure.” But I’m honestly blown away. I use it much more often as a laptop now, partly because of the screen. ProMotion at 120 Hz is great, it’s very bright, the blacks are very deep — all of that is obviously excellent. But beyond that, the display is just kind of insane and amazing. What’s interesting is that, overall, I use it in a very similar way to my previous computer. I had a MacBook Air M1 with 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD — a pretty solid configuration. And in day-to-day use, this computer feels very similar. I often have the impression that it’s just as fast — even though it obviously is much faster. The difference is that the moment when the computer starts getting warm comes much later, and only when I’m doing a lot more things at once. And I think the most important part is that even when it does get warmer and the fans kick in, it doesn’t slow down. I can keep doing all the crazy things I’ve decided to do at that moment. That simply wasn’t possible on my previous machine. So I’m really happy that this upgrade happened, because it truly is an upgrade. It genuinely changes the way I use a computer and what I’m able to do on it. My professional profile has also changed compared to who I was five years ago. Today I program a lot more — genuinely, regularly. I’m actively developing two mobile applications and one CMS. This is ongoing work, it’s real, it’s moving forward, and it actually meets real requirements and constraints. I never really believed my career would evolve in a way where I’d actually need a computer like this. I always thought that a MacBook Air was everything I needed for life and happiness — that I wasn’t “pro” enough to need pro hardware. And yet, it turns out I did need pro hardware, because I’m doing pro things. That’s kind of wild. Now, someone could say that you don’t need a MacBook to have pro hardware — and that’s true. I also have a Linux PC that’s an absolute beast, and I use it just as often, and I’m just as productive on it for one or two of the things I work on. But one of my apps is an iOS app, so I had to have a Mac. And I’m glad that I can use this Mac and that it handles everything I throw at it. I do feel like the battery life is weak — but on the other hand, I’m doing a lot more on battery than I used to. So maybe it feels weak because I’m literally developing for Android and iOS at the same time, running two emulators, plus browsers — and I’m not going to close anything. So yes, the battery drains quickly, but I think I’m just behaving a bit more recklessly on this machine, even when it’s unplugged. So overall, I’m very happy. I highly recommend it. I really like it. It’s a shame it’s not a ThinkPad, a shame it doesn’t run Linux, but because of the emulator requirements… I’m happy this is the computer I ended up with. And I’m glad I chose the M4 Pro version, because I really did need that power. The speed hits me every time – not just opening apps, but the whole system just feels light and snappy. Charging is stupidly fast. You plug it in for ten minutes, and it’s basically full again. Android really fits the way I use a phone. I like how much control I have, and how I can tweak small things without it fighting back. I’ve been looking at some of the new custom ROMs for the OnePlus 13 though (LineageOS in particular) and it’s tempting. No proper esim and LTPO support yet so I’m waiting for that getting fixed (I know how hard this could be but my fingers are crossed). Funny thing is, I wouldn’t have gone down this road without the Pixel 8a I bought about a year ago. That phone made me appreciate Android in the first place. But it also showed me what I was missing – a faster screen, better charging, a bit more power under the hood. So yeah, no regrets switching. But what pains me this time – I felt that notification wise I’m missing a lot on iOS. Action buttons in android notifications are golden. Somebody sends me a link? I can open it from notifications without even opening the communicator app. New YouTube video? I can just add it to watch later from notifications. I find myself more and more saying yes to notifications on Android because I can control them better and I can easily get rid of them if needed (something that never works on iOS because you can click X and mass prune them but some of the notifications are above that X area and they won’t be deleted and I have no idea what the rule is). To make things easier, I’m reusing the old list with previous defaults and will let you know if and how they have changed. 📨 Mail Client: Mail.app on both iOS and macOS; for work, Mimestream (Google accounts only). Because I’ve shifted most of my day-to-day activities to a Windows machine (I managed to get a BEAST with 64GB of RAM and a 4TB SSD for under $1,000), I now handle most of my mail in the browser—Fastmail in Vivaldi (personal) and Gmail in Chrome (work). On any of my devices (I use Android personally now, while my iPhone is mainly for work), I use the Fastmail and Gmail apps. 📮 Mail Server: Fastmail for personal use and Google for work. No changes here! 📝 Notes: Obsidian, Tot, and Day One. Day One is still here; I have a streak that’s about 300 days long now. For regular notes, I’ve settled on the free version of Standard Notes. When I moved away from the Apple-only ecosystem, I needed something that worked across all OSes, and Standard Notes does. ✅ To-Do: Akiflow and Things. Akiflow is still going strong; I even paid for five years of it since I’m not planning on dropping it anytime soon. I use it solely for my work calendar and tasks, and it’s made a huge difference for me. For personal tasks, I use Google Tasks. It just works: I add tasks with dates, and they show up when needed. I no longer need the complexity of something like Omnifocus, and it felt great to let go of that. 📷 Phone Camera: I previously used the Camera app on iPhone exclusively. Now, I take most of my photos with a Google Pixel 8a. The camera on the 8a is amazing, and I love having that 2x zoom button in the camera app. 🟦 Photo Management: Lightroom—still going strong! Lightroom is fantastic. 📆 Calendar: Previously used Calendar on iOS and Akiflow on Mac; now it’s Akiflow on PC and the Fastmail app on Android. 📁 Cloud File Storage: iCloud + Backblaze B2—still my go-to. I’m not using Google Drive yet, and honestly, I don’t know if I need to archive many actual files. Most of my “files” are Google Docs, Sheets, and photos. I have some archives, but it’s only a few gigs of data. I may copy it to Google Drive for access on my Pixel, but I haven’t really needed it in the past year. 📖 RSS: FreshRSS with Reeder. Since I moved to Android, I now use Read You with FreshRSS. It works well, and I don’t miss Reeder! 🙍🏻‍♂️ Contacts: Same as before. This is a big change to my daily workflow. Because whenever something comes to my mind – I can (and I am!) ask about it and learn something new. There are moments in which I’m missing my iPhone, sure. I do have these thoughts daily, but my sim card remains in the Pixel for about week and a half. Whenever I think about the iPhone, I remind myself that this tool has better assistant, better screen, does the same job and have OUT OF THIS WORLD notification system. And – that was new to me, seriously – these are to me worth more than iOS ecosystem? And the funny part of that is because I’ve moved from Apple to more open Google (evil, but a bit more open) – I can still access my photos and messages on my Mac. Because they are available in the web. Crazy experience. I know we said these things about Apple, but they just figured some nice things out. You’re getting to bed and plugging up your phone? I haven’t been that understood by a piece of music-related software. Honestly, it’s always on point and the suggestions are always wild (but good wild). But in terms of being understood by a piece software, recently I’ve made multiple changes to automations working in our home due to finally having time to sit down and take a peak into what Home Assistant allows. And since then I had thoughts like “it’s getting too hot” or “it’s getting too dark” and at – literally at this second, HA turned on a thing because it became exactly too hot or too dark. Doing buttons, clicking them to do a thing is obviouisly an upgrade from manually doing things, but I think I finally understood what does it mean to have “the smart home”. My current approach is that whenever something happens or just annoys me (or the wifey) – I try to either make automation at this moment or I write down what happened and what could happen. Also now I get why would I buy light sensors, air quality sensors and – most importantly – occupancy sensors. Having that additional information about room being occupied is great. It’s smooth sailing on my Mac and iOS, and not too shabby on Windows either. No other browser syncs tabs, and as someone who switches between Mac and Windows, I need that to keep my sanity intact. I use my MacBook Air on the go and my big ol’ desktop PC for work or chilling at home. I come across interesting reads on all three devices, and with Arc Sync, I can just pin them as tabs and access them wherever I am, no matter the device. It might sound a bit crazy to care so much about a browser, but after going through the multi-OS journey, I’ve really come to appreciate having my tabs synced up. Arc is the only browser that truly gets it right, unlike Brave, Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and the rest, which just show what’s on other devices without the real sync magic. It all started just like Dropbox – wanting a folder that syncs across devices. Now, I want a browser that does the same.
