🍿 Burnt (2015) - ★★☆☆☆
That was bad, really bad. The only good thing was the food, but the rest of it is terrible.
When I start to think about all of this, I wonder: do I trust Apple? Google? Microsoft? Anyone? As I delve deeper into this rabbit hole, I consider installing Linux on my PC, moving “off-grid” in terms of FAANG services, and self-hosting everything. Then I think about the sheer effort involved in doing that. One day, it will happen, but for now, it’s one service at a time. Mail is semi-done with Fastmail. Next will be smart home stuff (the new apartment will have HomeAssistant first), and then maybe photo backup (looking at you, Ente). It sucks to have to think about and do all of this.
Apple Music please get your shit together and be fast because it’s not fast
Making Vivaldi look like I want (like Chrome lol) is hard and some of my chrome extensions aren’t working. Brave it is. That was a quick one.
Trying out Vivaldi. I like Brave, dislike their attention to crypto.
Two years ago. All good, even perfect 🎉
Suddenly Brave and Vivaldi on my PC are breaking up websites. CSS just goes wonky. I wonder if/when that would be fixed (the websites are working perfectly fine on either Firefox or Google Chrome).
“She resumed payments for databases and software that helped the company detect and remove child sexual exploitation material. And, at one of the company’s international offices, she settled an unpaid heating bill. Before that, employees wore jackets indoors and tried to heat the space using a kitchen pizza oven.”
Update - I got my iPhone case on. Had to do some real work on it so it was in a tool mode.
Look ma! Tomatoes!🍅
Sometimes I put my phone in a case (it’s 99% of the time the dbrand grip case because it’s just too good and too grippy not to use it) and my phone usage changes. When it’s in the case it feels more like a tool, but when I take it out of the case it’s just a nicely designed object. I fidget with naked phone much more than I do with a grippy case. Interesting observation. Today it is in a case, but on the weekend it’s going to be a case off situation. This was a post about me using a case sometimes. I do think about such things too much.
It feels funny to have HomeAssistant set up and ready for a new flat… without actually having done ANYTHING in that flat. But I’m gonna be ready when the time comes!
That’s the issue with PC’s that can’t be moved easily - it’s too hot for me to sit in the office and I had to move out to the living room (because it has AC) and now I’m on my old (M1) Mac. Also - this Mac works perfectly fine but get’s hot when under heavy load. I still love it though.
🍿 Chef (2014) - ★★★☆☆ Too much of a cliche. Heartwarming, but cliche.

Don’t trust the big companies, if the spreadsheet says it’s no longer profitable, you’re gonna be fucked. And in the very end - you WILL BE at some point.
God damn, I’m becoming more and more open-web evangelist. And all I really, really want is just to use the thing I like.

Michael Tsai - Blog - Chromium Browsers Preferencing *.google.com Domains:
It’s easier to jump Chromium ship on Mac - there’s Safari. But on Windows? I don’t want to think about getting to Firefox because they have started making bad decisions and I think this trend will (unfortunately) continue.
I’m fortunate enough to have the means and skills to provide services for people, for free, such as a Mastodon or FreshRSS instance. Currently, I’m considering launching another completely free service. I’m gravitating towards either Pixelfed or Writefreely. Pixelfed would be more labor-intensive but would likely attract more users. Writefreely, on the other hand, would be much easier and cheaper (not only in terms of labor), but I’m unsure how many people are interested in having a blog.

At this point it feels weird to not start a Saturday this way.
