Platform Tilt: Documenting the Uneven Playing Field for an Independent Browser Like Firefox
Interesting times app-wise. Just testing something out.
One of these is not made by Google.
In a motion to tighten our budget I think I’m gonna move us from Fastmail to gmail with forwardemail.net to use our custom domains. $3 per month instead of $10 is a welcome change. And I don’t care about email that much (I only care to use my own domain and not gmail’s).
Hear me out - but what if I’d switch to Windows actually? A proper desktop machine with lots of RAM and pretty good graphics? I could do the work, play games and even virtualise shit and make dev things for fun too!
I would like an Android phone just to fuck around and find out part of it.
But I need to remember, now and again, that Apple is a corporation, and corporations aren’t people, and they can’t love you back. You wouldn’t love GE or Exxon or Comcast — and you shouldn’t love Apple. It’s not an exception to the rule: there are no exceptions.Source: inessential: Corporations Are Not To Be Loved
OMG since I’m no longer podcasting I think I can try iPad only because I think I’ll be able to do everything on iPad now! Holy shit. I think I’m gonna try it.
So, I had to go on vacation to finally successfully self-host Yunohost with all the apps I wanted? Because it works flawlessly, fulfilling all my expectations, and costs approximately $5 per month with Contabo VPS. Great stuff.
I think not wanting to be on the internet is next level holidays. 🤙🏻
It’s important for all of you to meet this gentleman.
Some time ago, we purchased some random spotlights for our living room, which already had spotlights installed. However, since they had the exact light color and power, we didn’t end up using them much. Recently, I decided to buy an empty shell and installed an IKEA Tradfri light inside, connecting it to our smart home system. To cut a long story short, it works perfectly, and I’m now ordering three more of them. Finally, we have spotlights with the ability to change the light. Even just one of them provides enough ambient light to make us fall in love with it.
I believe I have captured some of my best photos with my Canon camera simply because of its pocketable size. However, every time I pick up my so-called “big camera” (the A6000, which isn’t actually that big), I instantly realize what I miss with the Canon. The picture quality, depth of field, and the freedom to use different lenses instead of being limited to the Canon’s zoom lens (it’s good, but you can’t beat going below f/1.8).
In the upcoming weeks, as I go on vacation, I am planning to bring both of these cameras with me, along with my analog cameras. I am gonna capture photos as if there’s no tomorrow.
My phone spends 99% of the time in Apple Leather Case and somehow I still managed to scratch it quite deeply. That sucks.

Another year of micro.blog has been paid. Too happy with it to find an alternative (is there even an alternative that isn’t Wordpress that I hate with power of thousand suns?).
Happy with Stage Manager. It me.
Google is seriously testing my resistance when it comes to the Google Pixel phone. Today, I discovered that the Pixel 7a is on sale in Spain with a whopping 33% discount. Now, I already have a phone, an iOS phone to be exact, and I’m deeply invested in the iOS ecosystem. But despite all that, the temptation to switch is real.
Today, I stumbled upon a comment claiming that socialism destroyed families and suggesting that we should encourage people to have more children while getting rid of socialist policies. I was so close to venting my thoughts by creating an account, but then I snapped back to reality and reminded myself that arguing with random strangers on the internet is simply not worth it.
If I were to unleash my rant, it would go something like this: “I’m not having kids because of the current right-wing climate. If you want to understand where I’m coming from, go ahead and ask me questions.”
But hey, let’s face it, it’s the internet we’re talking about here. Arguing with some random person in the comments section is about as useful as shouting into the void.
I’ve found out about Tailscale. WTF, why I’m so late to this?
